Hospital trustees earn certification under Minnesota Hospital Association Program
Five hospital board members honored at annual conference
St.Paul, Minn. -- Five Minnesota hospital trustees were honored Friday for completing a Minnesota Hospital Association board member certification program.
The voluntary initiative verifies trustees' efforts to remain up-to-date on health care issues, to hone their leadership skills and to develop governance best practices. The certification ceremony at the association's 23rd annual summer trustee conference in Alexandria was its first.
"Certification helps assure stakeholders that Minnesota's hospitals hold themselves to high standards and are accountable for their governance performance," said Lawrence Massa, MHA president and CEO. "These trustees are actively demonstrating their commitment to the principles that make them exceptional assets to the patients and communities they serve."
To qualify, participants had to earn, for example, 35 education units in topics as varied as strategic planning and positioning and patient safety and quality.
Awardees were:
- Diane S. Cross, University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, Minnepolis;
- Loren Morey, Lakewood Health System, Staples;
- Barbara Muesing, First Care Medical Services, Fosston;
- Emily Tholl, Lakewood Health System, Staples; and
- Steve Perkins, Sanford Hospital, Luverne.
