First Care Medical Services Rehab team works closely together to provide you and your family with rehabilitative care in an effort to help promote return to a normal, pain-free lifestyle after an injury or illness.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists (PTs) diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.

PTs examine each individual and, working with their physician, develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. They also work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Physical therapists provide care in many settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, work settings, and nursing homes. State licensure is required in each state in which a physical therapist practices.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages to enable them to perform the daily activities of life. Occupation means an activity that "occupies" our time. A young child may need help in learning abilities to perform schoolwork. An adult may need to relearn how to learn to dress himself after a traumatic injury. A senior may want to continue walking with proper balance in order to stay active in his community. All of these activities are occupations, and sometimes people need help in regaining or maintaining them for overall fitness and health.

Occupational therapists provide care in many settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, work settings, and nursing homes. State licensure is required in each state in which a physical therapist practices.

Our Patients Tell Us

“When I came to have physical therapy at First Care and had my first meeting with Chantel, I had little range of motion in my left knee. It had been more than 2 months since surgery with no therapy during that time. Within a little more than one month, between Dr. Johnson and Chantel Wickham, I now have over 100 degrees of motion with every expectation of achieving normal range of motion. It is now possible to return to rockhounding in Arizona and fishing in Minnesota.”
- Pat Warcup

“Thanks for all your help to get me back on my feet. After completing therapy I was able to return to work. It was so great that your staff worked closely together with my doctors in Crookston. Everyone was so friendly.”
- Mary Senn

“Thank you for giving me the exercises for my back (you came to the hospital and explained what to do.) I’ve been doing them since I returned home and now am easing into the ones you gave me after knee surgery! What a blessing you've been to me. You are appreciated and very professionally skilled.

“Sincerely, with gratefulness”
- Fran Wahlin

“Six Years ago I had both my knees replaced at the same time. Vickie started therapy in the hospital and then it continued on an outpatient basis. The doctor told me that any range of motion beyond 90 degrees would be a bonus. We got to 115 degrees with both knees after about six weeks of therapy! I was very pleased. I have nothing but good things to say about the therapy department.”
- Gerry Slough

“I am receiving Physical Therapy at First Care for shoulder replacement after an injury. I am getting real professional and compassionate care. My therapist is Chantel and she is skilled in her profession. I have been to other physical therapy clinics and they can't compare to First Care's Therapy.”
- Lucille Brtek
